WOW! A Week!

We are thrilled that Lily is a week old!

We had a lactation specialist come to our house and assist me with Lily's feeding. Her "frenulum" (the little piece of attached skin under the tongue) is very "tight" - meaning that her tongue is almost completely attached which can cause serious nursing issues. So far no issues but we will have to look at surgery sometime so that the poor girl can eat an ice cream cone! Amelia is having surgery in August to open her tear duct so we need to make it through that before we consider Lily - ugh it makes me sick to think about it all though!

The absolute best news was that as of Thursday, Lily had not only gained back her birth weight in less than a week, but actually gained a little too! I am the proud mama of a 6 lbs., 9.5 oz. baby! Yeah! There is definite roll potential!

Lily has been a very peaceful baby much like Amelia although Lily is very adamant about eating every 2-3 hours and sometimes staying awake after eating. Amelia just slept as I remember it. Thus, I am a very tired mama.

Amelia is getting MUCH better behavior wise - knock on wood. She has calmed down a lot regarding "my baby" and is thankfully starting to listen again. We have noticed that little things that Amelia could "bounce back" from before now really throw her off and can wreck the rest of the day. For example, yesterday we had a 16 month old neighbor over and Amelia could NOT stand to share any toys. The rest of the day was a nightmare with Mommy and Amelia going head to head all night. Today, we had Amelia's birth group friends Parker and Shawn over and no toy fighting and the rest of the day was great, sigh.

On a bittersweet note - Both sets of grandparents are now out traveling. Buddy's parents left Thursday for a month in Australia. My parents left this morning to travel up to their house in Jackson Hole, WY for 8 weeks. Poor Amelia has lost both sets of her favorite people! I was just bawling last night about it. We do plan on spending two weekends with Buddy's parents when they return and we will travel to WY in 6 weeks - longest 6 week wait ever for me!

We will post more "week old" pictures in the next few days.
